Why is it that the balinese are so forward when it comes to relationships?

when i went they would ask me 4 question: my name, where im from, whether i had a boyfriend (which i always replied no) and why. but when they asked me why they said like it was the strangest thing in the world. Are relationships a common thing in bali? anyone who's been to bali, please share your experiences of the balinese people! personally they fascinate me!
