Why democratics ignored and supported dectiator in ethiopia?

in ethiopia the democratic party (CUD) get more than 75 percent vote by citizen , but the government on power ignored the citizens vote ,stay on power by inforcing by extirem military power .USA and uk delebratly support the regeim to stay on power, USA was promising to stand behaind the democratic forces , but now we fill disappointment , why USA disappoint us ?
